Jets vs Pats divisional playoff preview

The New York Jets are coming off a big win vs a Pats rival the Indianapolis Colts. Very big win I didn't expect. Jets definately put up and they are still talking. The question is will the Hoodie shut their mouths for good? Pat players have been told to keep their mouths shut. Which is fine. The Pats and Jets have had a rivalry. Obviously both teams are Super Bowl contenders. If they weren't they wouldn't have had all the hype surrounding their teams.

The Pats have not lost in so so games at home in the regular season. In the playoffs that is a different story. Ravens demolished the Pats last year at home in the wildcard round. They are also on a current consecutive losing streak in the playoffs. -2 losing streak losses to the Ravens and the Giants make that fact.

The Jets have defeated the Pats before in the regular season. They can get it done again their is no doubt in my mind about it. They were the media's top pick heading into the regular season. Now the Pats are! The media loves these two teams. I expect big coverage from this football game.

Jets surprised us all last year when they made the playoffs and went through the Chargers and Bengals. Bengals two weeks in a row as a matter of fact. They certainly arn't a pushover. They beat the Colts for goodness sake. They are a good football team that talks a lot of smack. Lets see if they can back it up when they meet their biggest rival in the AFC East the New England Patriots. Couple of keys to win this football game. On offense they have got to establish a ground game. Control the tempo of the football game. As for defense obviously put pressure on Tom Brady.

New England side of things obviously protect Tom Brady. The biggest key in this football game is that. Offensive line vs the defensive line. If Tom Brady isn't pressured he will have a great football game. He isn't in the MVP conversation for nothing. Led the team to 20+ straight home win in the regular season. His record in the playoffs isn't too bad either. 14-4 is his record. He is one of the best without a doubt. Since the Browns stomping the team has pretty much been unbeatable. The defense didn't give up points is one of the reasons the team was so great during that stretch. The defense was the best in that stretch. Can't argue with that. In any case the defensive key in this football game for the Pats is stop the run and force Sanchez to throw the football. Do that they for sure will get the victory. I'm picking the Pats as is everyone else. Prove me wrong again Jets. You will earn a ton of respect if you beat the Pats. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

AFC North + home field decided week 17

Two games that will decide the division will come during the final week of the regular season. Both are at the same time so I'll be switching back and forth through commercials. One of the reasons I love division play is because of this final week.

1st game will be the Ravens vs the Bengals. Ravens in a must win situation if they do indeed want home field advantage and a division title. Last go around Bengals won. Ravens have got to even it up. Bengals have won their last couple of games. Last week without T.O. and Ocho Cinco. I bet Bengal fans would love to cost Ravens home field advantage and end the season on a bit of a winning streak. It will be interesting to see how this game will play out.

2nd game will be the main factor in this equation. The Steelers vs the Browns. Browns have had a pretty good season. To me they found their quarterback and his name isn't Delhomme it is McCoy. Colt McCoy! The memory of the last time these two teams played was James Harrison's vicious hits that started all the fine nonsense. Steelers won last go around. This time it is for much more. To clinch home field advantage which would be great for Polamalu and to give Aaron Smith more time to heal. The plan was when Smith got hurt was not to use him for the rest of the season and use him in the playoffs. Thanks to not putting him on IR. Figure Polamalu will be out this ball game despite wanting to play. I would rather him to be 100% for the playoffs. Figure Pittsburgh will beat them reguardless, but Cleveland shouldn't be overlooked at any means. This will be a great game to end the season. Exciting week expecting wins by both teams.

Jets vs Steelers preview

Certainly a big game for both teams. Some can say this is a playoff matchup preview. New York is not doing all that well heading into this game. Sanchez is on the hot seat right now. As we all know he hasn't been playing all that well. The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for their great defense. Last game Steelers defense led the team to victory. No question about it vs the Bengals. 2 TDs for the defense. It might be a different story in this game cuz it looks as if Polamalu will not be playing in this ball game. Which is a positive for the Jets of course.

Anyways to me the real difference is gonna be the offense not the defense. Everyone is talking about both teams defenses heading into this game. The offense will be the biggest difference. Both teams have been struggling offensively. Which teams offense can lead their team to victory? Of course the defensive play will play a factor in this game. Ben Roethlisberger is banged up as we all know. Nose/foot along with terrible pass blocking. Both teams offensive lines will have their hands full vs these top defenses. Can either team get the running game going? Mendenhall has only had 2 100 yard rushing games since Ben's return. Steelers defense avgs 60 yards rushing per game. Could lead to a regular season record. It won't be easy for either team. It just leads us to believe it will come down to the quarterbacks play. I figure most of you know what result I want at the end of this game. Heath Miller could play today. It is 50/50 at this point heading to a game time decision. This will be a great game. Both teams want to make a statement in this game heading closer to the playoffs. Let's see who gets it done. Who wins? Jets or Steelers?

Time to even up the series.....Pit vs Bal preview

This Sunday we will be witnessing a great rivalry football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. To me it is one of thee if not thee best rivalry in the game today. I personally love defensive ball games. Every time we see these duos go at it it ends in a classic way. The respect both team players and fan bases have for one another make this rivalry special. Personally I can't wait for the game come Sunday Night on NBC.

What to expect? I don't expect either team to have huge numbers on the ground. I believe as always the difference will be the quarterback play. Both defenses are solid obviously....have been for several years as many of you should know. Last time it came down to the last minute. This time i wouldn't doubt it comes down to a second.

Ravens won the last game with Boldin catching the TD with I believe 35 seconds left to play. I think the Steelers led the whole game til that point. Anyways that time 4th string quarterback Charlie Batch was playing for the steelers at quarterback. Threw an I N T to end the final drive for Pittsburgh in the game. Now the ball game surrounds a different story. Big Ben is back and playing some great football. Going into last game he has thrown the most passing yards since his return from the suspension. Leads the NFL in that category since than. In any case, Ben is wearing a boot after getting injured in the last game vs the Buffalo Bills. He says he is playing this Sunday. It will definately factor in the ball game cuz history shows Steelers havn't won a ball game vs the Ravens without Ben in. When Ben plays the Ravens he has led the team to all victories except for one when he is the quarterback.

Says a lot about this game as well is the division is really on the line here. This is a must win for the Steelers because they lost earlier in the season to them. They got to even this series up. Last year they had the same record as the Ravens, but the division record kept them out of the playoffs. Thus far Browns beat the Bengals, Bengals beat the Ravens, Steelers beat the Bengals and Browns, and finally the Ravens have beaten both Browns and Pittsburgh. If Pittsburgh wins they will have basically a 2 game lead over the Ravens cuz loss to the Bengals earlier in the season. If Ravens win they will have a 2 game lead as well cuz they beat Pittsburgh twice.

Both teams are now 8-3 going into Sundays game. This game is big for both teams. To me this is bigger than Monday Nights media love frenzy. This is just pure football at its best. Good luck to the Ravens, but the steelers are gonna win! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Wildcard spot predictions.......

I have been thinking about the wildcard spots. I already have predicted the division winners. Now the wildcard spots are even tougher. Some folks disagree with me. I just wanted to see what everyone elses wildcard predicitons this year. I give the two wildcard spots to........One to the AFC North team and an AFC East team.

AFC West is simply the weakest division in the AFC so it is obvious they are not gonna have a wildcard team.

AFC South is a pretty good division, but with Texans having the toughest schedule in the NFL I don't think they can get it done this year. As for the Titans I don't believe CJ will have another stellar season as he did last year. He is their offense. As for the Colts, I believe the Colts will take the division again this year.

AFC East has in some folks opinion three great playoff caliber teams. I don't see the Dolphins a lot better than last years football team. Marshall is gonna be a bust. Brown is gonna get injured.....again. I don't see it. The Pats will take the division again. At least I believe so. As for the Jets they will take the wildcard spot. Great defense with some problems with chemistry which is the reason I believe they will not take the division. Contract issues with Revis isn't helping the situation either. Let's see if they can get it done without the Colts laying down for them.

AFC North is the best division in the NFL. No question about it.

Bengals made some decent acquistions, but I don't see them getting lucky again this season. They won't be making the playoffs. I don't believe in all the hype. T.O. doesn't make a team that great. If he did than wouldn't a team signed him before the end of July. Antonio Bryant is terrible!! Why do you think they went out and got T.O. They do have weapons as do other teams. Carson Palmer and the passing game isn't the reason they were successful last year nor this year. It will be because of the running game and the defense of the Bengals.

Ravens will be taking the last wildcard spot. Actually they will take the 5th spot because I think they will finish better than the Jets. They have a great football team. I respect that football team as well. Added some weapons and defense is always solid. Ray Rice is gonna be the best running back in the league at the end of the year. That is my prediction if you go by numbers.

As for the Steelers of course they will be winning the division and win the superbowl once again. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.....STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Call upsets NFL regular season week 1

The whole point of this thread is obviously for you to predict some upsets you see that is gonna happen week 1. Since I created this post I guess I'll start us off.

Det wins over Chi-Detroit along with the Chicago Bears were active in free agency, but to me the Bears acquistions of Peppers will be a bust. Of course Cutler is an interception machine and I'm gonna love to see Suh rip apart the line. I think they are the better team right now. I think the draft really helped them be better than the Bears. I see an upset.

I predict Cincy will get the win over New England even though I don't want it to happen. The only strength the Patriots really have in this game is of course the passing game. I figure Benson will have a good game. The key for a Pats win will be the running game, but I don't see it working nor do I see Pats passing game getting through that top secondary in the league. I'm rooting for the Pats, but it will be tough. Defense doesn't look good at all. I say Cincy wins this one unfortunately.

Stl over Ari-It's true!! I chose this in my predicitons. Why not? Don't really know a lot about the Rams besides their offense, but I do know a lot about the Cardinals because they are more talked about this offseason with a lot of things going on. Warner, Boldin, Rolle, Dansby, ect are all gone. Those guys will obviously be missed. Joey Porter acquistion is a bust. He can't replace what the huge role or Dansby and Rolle made on defense. I think the Rams offense will surprise people. Bradford over Anderson. Jackson over any running back. Both defenses are terrible. Obviously the better passing game is Arizona advantage, but they are gonna run the ball more apparently and Fitz could be out for the first game. Either way I see an upset.

Baltimore over Jets-All hype for both teams, but obvious favorite is the Jets. Flacco over Sanchez. Running game goes to the Ravens as an edge. Offensive line is close, but Jets have the edge. WR core is obviously the Ravens. Rush defense in my opinion belong to the Ravens. Secondary of course the Jets. Will you look at that!! It is clear that the Ravens are the better team in my opinion, but with all this media hype I figure that this can be called an upset I guess.

Can the Steelers over the Falcons be an upset too? Nevermind....

Those are my upsets. What are yours?

Time for people to wake up and smell the coffee

I was on a thread today where everyone was making their predictions about who is gonna be playing after week 17. I read the posters picks. I posted where is the Steelers? Some Padres fan acuses me of being a homer for saying that comment. So I'm not suppose to believe in my favorite team? I believe the Steelers are just as good as many football team in the NFL today when healthy. How can you disagree with that statement? Everyone on the thread basically chose the Bengals and the Ravens playing in the playoffs. I made a thread earlier this year stating "why is everyone writing of the Steelers". Not active enough on the thread to really get a true response besides no Ben, Holmes and Colon. That is one thing I can't get my fellow football fans is that all of you critics out there saying the Steelers arn't gonna be good because of last year or this year is bring up all the negatives. Why can't we look at the positives? I mean do you decide who's making the playoffs by watching ESPN? Come on guys get with the program. I have legit reasons why not only they will win their division, but they will make the playoffs and quite possibly go to the Superbowl. The only team that really can stop the Steelers in my opinion is the Colts which I think the Steelers can take them, but they are the toughest matchup in the AF. No one can disagree with that.

Negatives going into the season. Ben is suspended 4-6 games which Goodell in most folks minds believe he will reduce to at least 4 games. Holmes departure really doesn't help the situation nor does it help him being suspended. Traded him for a 5th rounder to the Jets. Head scratcher, but I think Wallace is more than capable of filling his shoes. Limas Sweed and the best offensive lineman Willie Colon is out for the season. Doesn't look all that good, but now let's look at the positives please.

Positives going into the season. Steelers were very active in free agency. Not big name players, but veterans to help out such as Battle and Will Allen for special teams. In my opinion that was the reason for Steelers failure to make the playoffs. 9 straight games giving up TDs if not that great field position. 5 of the 8 losses Steelers had last season were by 3 or less. Some of it was on fluke plays and missed oppurtunities. Reed missing field goals early in the season cost Steelers games early in the season. Dropped passes by Sweed that could have been TDs didn't help either. El returning makes in my opinion Steelers offense scary. He can throw just as well as the quarterbacks on the team which will give the offense a lot more oppurtunities. On the defensive end they added depth in the draft along with signing back of Larry Foote.

Trades Steelers made during the off-season. Leftwich for a 7th rounder. I like the idea. I like him and Dixon. I figure they are going with Leftwich to start the season, but they are both capable of doing the job. Bryant McFadden trade from the Cards was just awesome! I was very happy to hear that McFadden has returned the Steelers. He is a definately an upgrade at the cornerback position.

As for Camp, I've been taking some notes. Roethlisberger is in the best shape of his life. Which is a good sign for the Steelers. Offensive line looks like it is improving. Drafting Pouncey was a great upgrade. Flozell Adams is now on the Steelers also. Pro bowler is on the Steelers. Maybe replacing Colon. Don't know as of right now. Wide receiver position is really been good. Sanders a draftee by the Steelers in the third round is impressing. Running routes better than Mike Wallace. Dwyer could be a steal in the 6th round. At least Steeler fans are hoping so because he was projected to go in the 2nd round.

This is just a little bit of the reason why I have high expectations for the Steelers going into the season. Critics plz come right in.
