Surprising upsets to look forward to in 2011!!

Upsets happen in the NFL all the time. Weekly and some times more than one in a week. I decided since the season is about to begin, it is time to start calling some upsets. I'll call 1 for each week:

week 1:Cowboys over Jets-It can happen......
week 2:Browns over Colts-Hillis will put up huge #s!
week 3:Texans over Saints-I'm remembering Lynch owning Saints D.
week 4:Lions over Cowboys(can you consider that an upset?)
week 5:Chiefs over Colts-one of the worst rush defenses in the league vs the best ground game
week 6:Texans over Ravens-Expecting Flacco doesn't have a good day.
week 7:Bucs over Bears-I like the Bucs D!!
week 8:Dolphins over NYG-not really a good upset week, but I think this is the most likely to happen.
week 9:Chargers over Packers-Rivers just has the better day over Rodgers.
week 10:Lions over Bears-Reminding me of Calvin Johnson TD no call.....
week 11:Chargers over Bears-Bears offense will struggle.
week 12:Eagles over Patriots-Brady has a bad day....
week 13:Lions over Saints-I think Brees will be under pressure all day!!
week 14:Chiefs over Jets-I don't like the Jets front 7 this year.
week 15:Bengals over Rams-4th place team beating a playoff contender.......
week 16:Browns over Ravens-Almost happened last year......
week 17:Lions over Packers-I expect Lions to win 1 game next year vs the Packers.

I didn't do some rivalry games in this for the simple fact they were upsets last season such as Texans over Colts. I don't consider Jets over NE, Bears over Packers, Bucs over ATL/NO, ect upsets. Many may be shocked, some will whine, and others will say this is a bash fest. It isn't intended to bash one team or another. It is intended to hear others opinions and see some of their upset calls.

ATKOOL's 4 point play NFL predictions 2011

This is a start of my version of predictions. Give out 4 rather surprising predictions. Some may be shocked, others will critic, and the rest will be entertained. Here is 4 predictions that everyone are gonna be witnessing this coming year in football.

1.Colts missing the playoffs for the first time in 9 years-I said on various posts that I'm not betting against the Colts and Manning. The more I read Jags/Texans adding FA while Colts are doing nothing. The chances of Colts making it back to the postseason really doesn't look too good. They barely won the division last year. This year with the Texans D better than it was last year along with Jags taking away Colts linebacker and adding other pieces I feel Colts will struggle to win their division and make the playoffs.

2.Browns win 8 games or more-While looking at the Browns schedule, I figure the team will win at least 8 games this year. AFC North is facing the NFC West this year. To me, Browns are just as good as any of the teams in the NFC West. I think they can sweep the Bengals or win one of those and win a game vs the Ravens this year. In 2 or 3 years, the team will be battling for a division championship.

3.Giants will miss the playoffs 3 years in a row-Giants have way too many questions. Running game isn't what it once was. Eli is coming off probably the worst year of his career with league leading interception total. I think the offense will struggle with the Eagles getting all those great players in FA. Cowboys or Eagles offense>Giants offense. I think the offense will be the reason they fail to make the playoffs in 2011.

4.Cardinals will finish last in their division-Trading away a 2nd round pick along with a pro bowl cornerback? You ain't gonna win games this year. Cardinals defense last year was flat out terrible. They went out and signed a new defensive coordinator(ex-steeler) to try and turn the team around. Cardinals havn't got a running game(ranked last 2010), defense gave up 27 points a game(-Pro bowl corner=), who does Kolb have to throw to not named Fitz? Cardinals will not only be worse after that trade, but probably the worst team via record. It isn't really that bold I suppose since I believe they finished last last year, but I felt I needed to give my opinion on the terrible trade they made.

There you have it......ATKOOL's 4 point play NFL predictions 2011.

What teams NFL draft thus far has made you giggle

This particular thread is basically to bash teams who have made some dumb decisions on the draft day thus far. Well of course it is everyones opinion.

I'll give you an example: Falcons traded 2 1st and 4th round picks plus a 2nd rounder to get Julio Jones. Some may call it bold. I call it stupid basically trading their draft away for Julio Jones. I believe White posted on twitter they traded their draft away. Obviously White isn't very happy with the trade. Now the Brownies will be battling for the number 2 spot in the division with Baltimore behind Pittsburgh. Nice job....I'm sure the Saint fans along with Buc fans are laughing right now. I would say Carolina is laughing, but you know. At any case, they were the most over-rated team last year. I doubt the team makes it to the playoffs unless they get the 6th slot in the wildcard which I doubt. Saints not only in my opinion will be the division winner, but they should be the best team in the NFC after thee amazing draft they had. Some could argue they had the best draft. The argument is with the Browns. The reason Browns are in the discussion is because all the picks Falcons gave them. Congrats on being the laughing stock of day ones draft. I know I'm not making any friends with Falcon fans, but I speak my opinion. Saint fans probably dislike me just as much as you will after the read. Congrats on trading this years along with next years draft away. I was amazed as I feel Holmgren was when he heard the offer. Julio Jones isn't worth 5 picks. Especially 2 1st round picks! Jets vs Pats divisional playoff preview

The New York Jets are coming off a big win vs a Pats rival the Indianapolis Colts. Very big win I didn't expect. Jets definately put up and they are still talking. The question is will the Hoodie shut their mouths for good? Pat players have been told to keep their mouths shut. Which is fine. The Pats and Jets have had a rivalry. Obviously both teams are Super Bowl contenders. If they weren't they wouldn't have had all the hype surrounding their teams.

The Pats have not lost in so so games at home in the regular season. In the playoffs that is a different story. Ravens demolished the Pats last year at home in the wildcard round. They are also on a current consecutive losing streak in the playoffs. -2 losing streak losses to the Ravens and the Giants make that fact.

The Jets have defeated the Pats before in the regular season. They can get it done again their is no doubt in my mind about it. They were the media's top pick heading into the regular season. Now the Pats are! The media loves these two teams. I expect big coverage from this football game.

Jets surprised us all last year when they made the playoffs and went through the Chargers and Bengals. Bengals two weeks in a row as a matter of fact. They certainly arn't a pushover. They beat the Colts for goodness sake. They are a good football team that talks a lot of smack. Lets see if they can back it up when they meet their biggest rival in the AFC East the New England Patriots. Couple of keys to win this football game. On offense they have got to establish a ground game. Control the tempo of the football game. As for defense obviously put pressure on Tom Brady.

New England side of things obviously protect Tom Brady. The biggest key in this football game is that. Offensive line vs the defensive line. If Tom Brady isn't pressured he will have a great football game. He isn't in the MVP conversation for nothing. Led the team to 20+ straight home win in the regular season. His record in the playoffs isn't too bad either. 14-4 is his record. He is one of the best without a doubt. Since the Browns stomping the team has pretty much been unbeatable. The defense didn't give up points is one of the reasons the team was so great during that stretch. The defense was the best in that stretch. Can't argue with that. In any case the defensive key in this football game for the Pats is stop the run and force Sanchez to throw the football. Do that they for sure will get the victory. I'm picking the Pats as is everyone else. Prove me wrong again Jets. You will earn a ton of respect if you beat the Pats. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

AFC North + home field decided week 17

Two games that will decide the division will come during the final week of the regular season. Both are at the same time so I'll be switching back and forth through commercials. One of the reasons I love division play is because of this final week.

1st game will be the Ravens vs the Bengals. Ravens in a must win situation if they do indeed want home field advantage and a division title. Last go around Bengals won. Ravens have got to even it up. Bengals have won their last couple of games. Last week without T.O. and Ocho Cinco. I bet Bengal fans would love to cost Ravens home field advantage and end the season on a bit of a winning streak. It will be interesting to see how this game will play out.

2nd game will be the main factor in this equation. The Steelers vs the Browns. Browns have had a pretty good season. To me they found their quarterback and his name isn't Delhomme it is McCoy. Colt McCoy! The memory of the last time these two teams played was James Harrison's vicious hits that started all the fine nonsense. Steelers won last go around. This time it is for much more. To clinch home field advantage which would be great for Polamalu and to give Aaron Smith more time to heal. The plan was when Smith got hurt was not to use him for the rest of the season and use him in the playoffs. Thanks to not putting him on IR. Figure Polamalu will be out this ball game despite wanting to play. I would rather him to be 100% for the playoffs. Figure Pittsburgh will beat them reguardless, but Cleveland shouldn't be overlooked at any means. This will be a great game to end the season. Exciting week expecting wins by both teams.

Time to even up the series.....Pit vs Bal preview

This Sunday we will be witnessing a great rivalry football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. To me it is one of thee if not thee best rivalry in the game today. I personally love defensive ball games. Every time we see these duos go at it it ends in a classic way. The respect both team players and fan bases have for one another make this rivalry special. Personally I can't wait for the game come Sunday Night on NBC.

What to expect? I don't expect either team to have huge numbers on the ground. I believe as always the difference will be the quarterback play. Both defenses are solid obviously....have been for several years as many of you should know. Last time it came down to the last minute. This time i wouldn't doubt it comes down to a second.

Ravens won the last game with Boldin catching the TD with I believe 35 seconds left to play. I think the Steelers led the whole game til that point. Anyways that time 4th string quarterback Charlie Batch was playing for the steelers at quarterback. Threw an I N T to end the final drive for Pittsburgh in the game. Now the ball game surrounds a different story. Big Ben is back and playing some great football. Going into last game he has thrown the most passing yards since his return from the suspension. Leads the NFL in that category since than. In any case, Ben is wearing a boot after getting injured in the last game vs the Buffalo Bills. He says he is playing this Sunday. It will definately factor in the ball game cuz history shows Steelers havn't won a ball game vs the Ravens without Ben in. When Ben plays the Ravens he has led the team to all victories except for one when he is the quarterback.

Says a lot about this game as well is the division is really on the line here. This is a must win for the Steelers because they lost earlier in the season to them. They got to even this series up. Last year they had the same record as the Ravens, but the division record kept them out of the playoffs. Thus far Browns beat the Bengals, Bengals beat the Ravens, Steelers beat the Bengals and Browns, and finally the Ravens have beaten both Browns and Pittsburgh. If Pittsburgh wins they will have basically a 2 game lead over the Ravens cuz loss to the Bengals earlier in the season. If Ravens win they will have a 2 game lead as well cuz they beat Pittsburgh twice.

Both teams are now 8-3 going into Sundays game. This game is big for both teams. To me this is bigger than Monday Nights media love frenzy. This is just pure football at its best. Good luck to the Ravens, but the steelers are gonna win! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Saints vs Steelers preview

As many of you may know I strongly dislike the Saints and probably the biggest homer for the Steelers. In any case this is without a doubt one of thee if not thee biggest game of the year. At least for both teams besides of course the division games that are also very important. This is one of the games I have been looking forward to all year long when the schedule came out.

Pittsburgh Steelers were the reigning Super Bowl champions coming into last season. In my opinion they were the most complete team in the league. Than game 1 of the 2009 season, Troy Polamalu left the game with an injury in the season opener. That was the start of the season collapse along with inconsistant special teams and defensive 4th quarter let downs. Of course the haters/critics remind us of that going into the season. Saying defense is old and what not. Polamalu returned this year along with Aaron Smith. Both have played very well. The emergence of Mike Wallace was great last season. This year he is playing like a top 10 receiver. That's just my opinion at least.

Last Sunday night Steelers players went down with injury namely Woodley and Aaron Smith.....just a name of few that are injured going into Sundays game against the Saints. I still like Steelers chances in this ball game. I expect the Saints to play the pass on defense. I expect Mendenhall to have a great game. Defensive side for the Steelers of course is to focus on the passing game. The pass rush will make the difference in this ball game for sure. Hope for Harrison to get a few sacks and put a lot of pressure on Brees all game long.

As for the Saints, this season hasn't gone to the liking of the reigning Super Bowl champs. After having a high-powered offense last season they just having been putting it on the scoreboard this year winning close ones rather than winning by blowouts. The loss of Bush hurt the offense along with Thomas, but to me it really didn't matter or factor in some of their games. The games they were in they were close too. Chris Ivory has done very well coming in and rushing very well. One game he had over 150 yards on the ground. That is very impressive. Bush is expected to practice and hopes to go vs Pittsburgh. Smart idea from the Saints to keep him off the field til they think they need him back. After coming off a loss to the Browns they surely don't wanna lose this big game. Giving up 30 points to Browns offense is pretty bad especially at home where it is suppose to be so terrible to play in that dome.

Hangover is calling for them. "Who dat" nation you better be ready. I suggest putting on the paper bags over your heads again. The fairy tale story is over. Now it is time to face reality. Reality is the Steelers are the best team in the league right now. All you haters/posers can stop living in fairy tale world. You need to wake up cuz the Steelers are the best and you can not stand it. The team is your worst nightmare. I'm not typing this to hear praise after Steelers great start this year. Nor do I need you to tell me the Steelers are the best team. I along with few others believed this would happen. Number 7 is coming in February. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be......STAY JEALOUS!!Cool
