Deserved praise and criticism week 6 2011

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Deserved:

1.Falcons-I admit, I have been very hard on the Falcons which is why they are the first team on the list. They beat the Panthers by my surprise. LOL! Congrats!

2.Eagles-Feel that I had to put them on here this week after snapping that 4 game skid. Beating a division rival is a plus for any football team. Now they just gotta get those Ws from here on in cuz a playoff appearance is unlikely otherwise. Congrats!

3.Oakland keeps winning-I learned about this today that Campbell will miss the entire season. Despite getting injured vs the Browns yesterday, they picked up the win. Wondering if they will add a qb or something instead of going with Boller. Orton may be available. One thing you can't take away from the Raiders, they are still unbeaten in the AFC West since last year which is a huge plus. Campbell led Raiders still owns the division til proven otherwise.

4.Bucs-victory over the Saints is huge. I believe they are now in 1st place of their division. Wonder if it would have turned out differently if Payton wasn't knocked down. In any case, praise is well deserved!!

5.Pats D-I know everyone bashes the defense week after week saying the Pats have the worst defense in the league. I personally think their defense is pretty good when you look at the amount of turnovers the defense racks up every week. I think that is a positive that a lot of defenses would like to have. They've forced like a turnover or more in every game. Praise is deserved for holding Cowboys to only 16 points after all those turnovers on the Pats side of the football field. Praise is deserved!!

*Bonus: 49ers-defeated the Lions!! First time it has been done since December which is impressive. The reason this is a bonus is simply because 49ers are on criticism as well.

Criticism:

1.Little Jimmy-You got hops bro! LOL! Jumping in the air like you have won a Super Bowl or something. It amazes me that some folks actually tried defending this guy for his lack of sportsmanship.  Good win regardless.....

2.Rams-Everyone including myself crowned them the AFC West champs coming into this year. They were favorites to beat the Seahawks last year to win the division. Now they start 0-5 record. Not good at all, but I hope they can pick up some wins sooner rather than later. I doubt they will be able to take the AFC West. No playoffs in St.Louis this year.

3.Vikings-After picking up a win last week, they get demolished by a division opponent. Certainly doesn't look good for the Vikings this year or McNabb. Ponder replaced him in the game after chants of "we want Ponder!" UFL may be calling for McNabb. Wonder if the Jets would take him in as a backup for Sanchez?

4.Brandon Marshall-I know the game hasn't been played yet, but to come out and say that he is gonna try to get ejected by starting a fight or kicking the football in the stands is idiotic. No wonder the Dolphins are terrible this year. I doubt the Jets leave Monday Night with a 4 loss streak intact.

5.Rex Grossman-4 picks and no TDs along with terrible accuracy forced Beck to go in the football game. Terrible day on the ground surprisingly from the Redskins. 28 yards on the ground?? There goes Grossman's job along with playoff hopes possibly. Wouldn't it be terrible for the Skins to end up back at the bottom of the division after that start?

*Chad Johnson aka Ocho Cinco-With all the media hype surrounding the genius move made by Belichick. Low risk and high reward situation. Ocho was brought in to be that deep threat Pats missed in the playoffs. He was suppose to replace Moss. He hasn't been able to make an impact at all "positively". Sad thing is that Haynesworth of all guys made a bigger impact to this football team this year. No receptions for Ocho Cinco this week. What is wrong with him that he can't understand the playbook? Chad.....YOU ARE KISSING THE BABY!!

Deserved praise and criticism week 5 2011

This series was created for the purpose of showing my critics I give praise to other football teams. I refused from the beginning to not have the Steelers part of this series because of being criticized for being a homer. I'll stick with that through out. Time to give praise and critic other football teams besides my favorite.

Praise

1.Al Davis/Raiders
-I was never a big fan of the Raiders. Not a big fan of any players on their football teams(exception McFadden). I was proud of the Raiders for pulling out that huge win for Al. I do wish the team well going forward. I want the Raiders to win the division this year for Al Davis. The story would just be tremendous. My bias towards rooting for Tebow to do well will not hurt the Raiders. Still proud to say the Raiders are undefeated in division play since Campbell came in. Prove them wrong!! RIP Al Davis

2.TEBOW TIME!!-I told you all Kyle Orton was over-rated. People bash Tebow for his accuracy when Orton is still one of the worst in the league. He lost his job and Tebow almost made Rivers have a heart attack. Tebow came in and led that football team. The sounds in that stadium was tremendous. An atmosphere, he created by the confidence he brought in with him. It would have been awesome to see that comeback win, but it didn't happen unfortunately!! Happy for Tebow and hope he proves the doubters wrong.

3.Vikings/All Day-Got their first win of the season and kept the lead!! Cards keep proving me right.

4.Saints/Brees/Panthers-It seems I have the Panthers on here every week. I am stunned by the way they have kept competitive in ball games. Deserve a lot of credit for getting the lead vs the Saints. I have been very hard on Brees and the Saints. Way more hate than they deserve. Saint fans and Brees, I apoligize. He truly is an elite quarterback in this league and I wish Brees and the Saints well going forward. I felt it needed to be said and I have felt this way since the game where I rooted for Brees and the Saints to win. I've been way too harsh towards the organization and the Saints. I said NFC Champs before the season began. Hope you prove me right! Again, I apoligize!

5.Packers/Lions-Undefeated through 5 weeks. I know both were expected to play well, but they deserve a ton of credit for their teams performance thus far. Calvin Johnson is currently my pick to win the MVP award with Rodgers a close 2nd. Both have played fantastic. Praise is well deserved!!

*Bonus: Seahawks-I think this was deserved after their performance vs the Giants. Know they won't be on here that often if they live up to my expectations. Congrats on the upset and huge victory.

Criticism

1.Bucs-What happened? 3-48 loss to the 49ers. I had Bucs as the last team eliminated to miss the playoffs. Maybe it was the schedule. It seems like when they don't run the football effectively, the team struggles. I think Freeman needs better weapons. Picking the Saints to win the AFC South looks good right now! Again....thank you Falcons for keep proving me right!!

2.Jags-What is up with that? You have the lead and lose it? C'mon man!! Now Bengals look like they may start 5-2!! I bet Carson Palmer is happy!!

3.Colts lose lead-24-7 was when I said, Colts are gonna get their first victory. 28-24 was the final score....What happened? Chiefs ground game is non-existant. All they have is a passing game right now. I can't believe it! Colts will not have the worst record in the league o!!

4.Matt Schaub-With Texans being good they are getting more exposure nationally. That isn't good for Schaub because he is nothing, but a product of AJ and Arian Foster. He isn't an elite quarterback. He is worse than Romo and Rivers!!

5.Vick-Last season, I was rooting for Vick to be successful. He was, but this year.....he isn't looking too good. Dream Team comment probably killed this football team. I knew they would struggle early due to new coaches, but.....they have got to play better in all phases. It feels like in Philly they have too many personalities to deal with. VY obviously, Jackson wanting his pay check, and player playing with far more confidence. I don't know what it is, but they can't stop the run with those linebackers. That with the interception and turnovers. I had Eagles get the final wildcard spot with Lions/Packers getting #5.It looks if the playoff door is closing on the Eagles quickly. They gotta step it up!!

Deserved praise and criticism week 4 2011

The on going series continues for all the critics out there.

Deserved Praise:

1.Curtis Painter-I along with 90% of NFL fans didn't give this guy a chance. We wanted a proven vet in there to take over for Peyton. Now it looks as if he is proving us all wrong with his play. Almost pulled out a victory Monday Night vs the Bucs.

2.Ravens defense-I hate to say it, but after the past 4 weeks.....they have proven they have the best defense in the league "right now"!

3.Panthers/Newton-They are actually staying competitive in football games which is surprising to me and the rest of the nation. People had a label on them as being the worst team in the league again via record. Keep playing like this.....I don't think so!! Newton critics are silence!

4.Lions 4-0??-I believe it was 27 point comeback victory. Correct me if I'm wrong. Romo proves time and time again he has the clutch gene.

5.Tarvaris Jackson>Matty Ice-last week T-Jax outperformed Tom Brady v2. He threw for over 300 yards and almost led the Seahawks to a comeback victory vs the most over-rated team in football.....The Super Bowl bound Atlanta Falcons!!

Bonus:The question I'm asking myself now is my fantasy football team facing Aaron Rodgers? I hope not because I figure this guy has a monster game vs the Falcons. Worst case scenario: 400 yards passing!

Deserved Criticism:

1.Lowest comp % in Jets qb history!!-31% was the number Sunday that put Mark Sanchez in Jets history. Rex Ryan according to reports was furious and stated they are going back to the ground and pound football. Back to their identity!! NYJ @ NE Sunday....."can't wait!!"

2.McNabb/Vikings-I don't know what it is. Is it just I didn't want to believe Shanahan was right? McNabb couldn't handle the conditioning to play late? I remember him getting pulled in the 4th last season with the Skins needing a score to tie the game. McNabb has been terrible. Play calling has been questionable as well. They have built 3 possession leads, but they continue to choke it away in the 2nd half by not running the football. The best running back in the league attempted 5 rush attempts in the 2nd half. APs father been talking about it as well. LOL! I had the Vikings at best 5 victories which was being generous at the time. Right now....I think 3 is!

3.Rams-This was there year to shine and take the division. Bradford has been not playing like the next "Peyton Manning" like we all thought he would. I knew personally they would struggle early due to tough schedule early. I believe they can bounce back and finish  at least 2nd in the division.

4.Bills/Raider hype machine-yep.....I was blind by it. I had high expectations for both teams. Both wanting them to come out with a victory. The bigger letdown was Bills lost a game after leading 17-3.

5.Eagles lose 3 straight-It isn't surprising if you some wasn't blind by the hype machine. Anyone with common sense knew they were gonna struggle early. It isn't due to tough schedule.....it is due to new coaches/players trying to get a feel for the system they are running. Schedule only gets tougher......who knows if Eagles will make the playoffs. I had them as #6 on the wildcard knowing they would struggle. Leading by 21 and lose it to an NFC West team. 49ers keep proving me right.

Bonus: Rivers has a turnover in every game he has played in this season. If not for the defense bailing him out.....Chargers would be 1-3 at best!! Surprised??SurprisedDon't be..........STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Deserved praise and criticism week 3

I'm gonna try to make this weekly series due to my critics claiming I only praise my favorite team while bash everyone else.

Praise:

Lions-They deserve a ton of respect for doing something they weren't able to do the past couple of seasons.....win football games late. Stafford is a lead candidate for comeback player of the year. Lions + playoff win in 2011 season sounds likely!! Won first game @Minny since Barry Sanders day. Congrats is well deserved.

Bills-I always make the safe pick and go with the team that is far more proven. Pats have earned respect around the league for years now. Bills proved the doubters wrong and came up big with a victory. I'm happy to say congrats to Bills! Fitzpatrick>Orton and Henne. A dolphin fan laughed when I predicted 3rd place for the Bills. I suppose the Bills are getting the last laugh.

Colt McCoy-The man led an avg receiving corps without Peyton Hillis to a 4th quarter comeback. I had a feeling it would happen when I witnessed it. I couldn't believe Dolphins choked away the victory.Credit is well-deserved for the Browns offense!! Looks like the former Longhorn will be having a bright future in Cleveland for years to come.

McFadden's ground game-I was thinking upset here, but my respect for the Jets kept me from picking them.  Raiders proved me wrong. They are legit and Campbell is excelling. Congrats is well-deserved. Hopefully ya snatch that AFC West crown. Undefeated in division last year and now defeating playoff teams. Take the Rex Ryan challenge and beat NE.

SD defense-Have you seen that defense this year? The defense has been doing their job and bailing out Rivers in 3 straight games. Despite starting this season with 6 interceptions.....that stat stuffer still almost cost his team ball games. An interception by Weddle was the difference in the win/loss this week with 55 seconds left. Only giving up 10 points in week 1. Rivers is a lucky man!

Criticism:

Miami Dolphins-losing to the Browns without their best offensive player? Giving up a 4th quarter lead late as well. Am I the only one who still feels Sparano will be fired first?

Falcons-The Super Bowl bound Falcons, who were gonna be an offensive powerhouse with Julio Jones, only put 13 points on the board. They should have 3 losses right now if not for Vick getting hurt. LOL! Super Bowl and Falcons? Are you kidding me? Hate to say I told you so. Nope....I don't hate to say it.

Pats run game-Why didn't the Patriots run the football in the 2nd half? I can't understand why they would continue to throw with that lead. I know some folks say they have a terrible ground game, but it was top 10 in 2010. Take some time off the clock and keep the Bills offense off the field. Instead they throw.....we know how that resulted!

Vikings offense-3 consecutive games the Vikings have gave up leads in the 2nd half. I believe all were more than a TD. I can't put it all on the defense because you expect more from an offense. McNabb has got to step up if they can't get the ground game going. Not a good situation to be in 0-3 in a division that has two undefeated teams. Got to get a W this week if you wish to make the playoffs.

CJ2k-game isn't back yet after week 3. If Titans want to dethrone the favorites to win the South, he needs to get his game on.

Deserved praise and criticism week 2

Several of my critics claim I don't give credit to other football teams in which I do. I felt it was time for much deserved praises along with criticisms for certain players/teams. I welcome opinions of this post and on week 2. Who deserves praise and criticism after week 2?

Praise:

*Bills:starting 0-8 last year.....now starting 2-0 heading into a game against the Pats. I'll be rooting for ya. I picked the Bills to win this week. They made a huge comeback after being down 21-3. Fitzpatrick deserves some credit. I heard before the draft that Bills needed a quarterback in which I thought Fitzpatrick was pretty good in comparison to some quarterbacks in the league. Despite it he proves the doubters wrong and proves why he is the most under-rated qb in the league. Helluva lot better than Orton.

*Cutler/Romo:I dislike both quarterbacks, but they deserve credit. Romo played injured and led his team to a comeback victory. Cutler? I know a lot of people have been attacking him calling him a bad qb, but look at his offensive line along with the receivers. I think the Bills, Skins, and Dolphins have better receiving cores.

*Lions:Winning 48-3 is very impressive. A lot felt Lions would win simply because Eric Berry was out. Obviously, Lions exposed the Chiefs for having more problems. I think they have been outscored 10-80 something. They deserve criticism. LOL! Lions.....get to the playoffs and win! Stafford prove the doubters wrong and stay healthy! Keep getting it done!

*Cam Newton:I give the kid a lot of credit and hope he continues to do well. I wish all players success when they enter the NFL. Hope he proves the critics wrong. So far he has passing for over 400 yards the last two games. Only Brady has done that. What better class to be in? We know we are gonna hear about the turnovers, but the Panthers were still in the game despite it. Credit is deserved!!

*Pats D:I know they have given up a ton of yardage in the air, but they are creating turnovers which impresses me. Pats D deserves credit!

Criticism:

*Chiefs:I know Haley said he deserves the blame for the Chiefs struggles to start the season, but it isn't all him. Players deserve criticism for being blownout the last 2 weeks by huge margins. 10-80 something.

*Vikings:17-0 lead and they lose the game? No disrespect intended to the Bucs, but no excuses here giving up that huge of a lead. Minnesota was one of the best rush defenses in the league not to long ago. The game ends with Blount going right up the middle for a TD. What is up with that?

*Colts:They arn't this bad without Peyton. No excuse can cover how they have played. 0-3 start the year? Come on man! (They play Pittsburgh next week which is why I went ahead and marked a loss on their schedule.)

*Rivers:Charger fans should have known it was coming. I couldn't believe what I heard from a Chargers fan today. Direct quote:  "I'm getting tired of seeing the Chargers blow these opportunities and continuously relying on Rivers to bail them out late every game." Are you kidding me? I'm gonna have to make a thread for this one. I can't believe this. They must really not watch the games.

*Ravens:Everyone was shining the Super Bowl championship for the Ravens after week 1. Week 2 they come out and lose? For folks not to believe they deserve criticism is idiotic.

I may continue this series week after week to show my critics that I not only critic teams, but also praise them as well. Surprised??SurprisedDon't be.....STAY JEALOUS!!Cool

Breakdown of NFC playoff teams+Super Bowl pick

This probably don't mean much since I've been wrong about the NFC just about every year I can remember. Picked the Packers in 2007, 2008 picked Giants, and the last year picked Vikings and picked them this year preseason. Of course none of that happened. Let's hope I can get one right. LOL!

I'll state why or why not I'm picking this team to represent the NFC.

Seattle Seahawks: Strong possibility that they can get in to the playoffs with a 7-9 record. Which will be decided this Sunday on NBC vs the Rams. Their starting quarterback is out. Defense isn't great nor is their offense period. I figure if they do make the playoffs they will be their to get beat down by the Saints or Falcons. Without Hasselback they have proven to struggle. That is why I don't like their chances.

Stl. Rams: The Rams could make the playoffs with a victory with an 8-8 record if they come out on top. What a year they have had by being the worst team in football to going to the playoffs. That would be amazing for the franchise and their fanbase. The future looks bright with Bradford behind center. He's in the makings of becoming a star. Leading this team with injured wide receiver after another. Steven Jackson will be a force on the ground and will play a factor. I like them winning the ball game vs the Seahawks, but I don't see a win happening. I see an early playoff exit.

Tampa Bay Bucs: They could possibly make the playoffs, but I doubt it. If they do as a 6th seed I don't see them beating Philly. Freeman has had a phenomanal year.  Great future ahead of him. Along with this franchise. I remember watching a camp preview for the Bucs and they said they would surprise the NFL with a good season as they did. Congrats on the great year.

NYG: Has a possibility to make the playoffs with a Green Bay loss and a win tomorrow. Giants just havn't been the same team. Started off slow than were the hottest team in the NFC than all of a sudden they bomb. Again I doubt they make the playoffs, but if they do they can certainly make a run at a Super Bowl, but if they play like they did the last two weeks I don't like their chances. I'm not picking them to even make the playoffs as of now so.

Green Bay Packers: This may come as a surprise pick and it may not to others, but if they make the playoffs they are the team I pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. As long as Aaron Rodgers is healthy I like their chances. I despise the Packers, but I'm picking them. Hope I'm wrong. Unbiased here.....

New Orleans Saints: Saints have played great football the last month thanks to their injured players recovering including Reggie Bush. In any case I don't think their defense would be good enough to fend off the Packers offense or Philly offense. Heck probably even Atlanta's offense. Atlanta's beat them before. That is one of the reasons I don't like their chances. Nothing wrong with their offense I just don't have the confidence in their defense.

Philadelphia Eagles: Vick has been playing like an MVP all year. This team did look unstoppable at one point. I did think about giving the Eagles the nod as the my pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, but they are bit inconsistant. Loss to the Vikings with a 3rd string quarterback? That is what made me 2nd guess myself. Whoever wins that wildcard game between Eagles vs Packers will be my pick, but right now the Packers are for sure.

Chicago Bears: Not a strong believer in the Bears. I really havn't been despite their season this year. Whoever the Bears face at home whether it be Eagles, Saints, or Packers I don't like the Bears in the matchup. I think those three teams are better than the Bears. Just my opinion of course. I'm just not a believer in the Bears.

Atlanta Falcons: This Sunday will decide if the Falcons get homefield advantage and clinch the the division. Which is a big difference for this football team cuz Matt Ryan had led this team to a 19-2 record his last 3 seasons. So home field is good for them. Big difference in win/loss column. I know they won't go to the Super Bowl if they don't get home field advantage. Have a stronger possiblity if they do of course. Personally I think the Falcons are a lucky football team. Their record shows they are 12-3, but I don't believe they are as good as their record. Barely beating Bucs, losing to the Saints in last game. I think the Saints, Packers, Eagles all are better football teams than the Falcons too. Question marks with Eagles and Packers. I know for a fact Saints are the better football team. I despise the Saints. Ask any Saints fan on these boards. They'll tell ya that.

This is my breakdown of all of the NFC teams. Why and why not I pick them. So on and so forth. Tell me what ya think. Packers will represent the NFC.

Vick is my pick for MVP

Their is some reasons why I made this particular post. One because every single day on the boards we have some man love with Tom Brady. It just makes me sick. He is the MVP because he does more with less and yada yada yada. Vick was injured during the season so he can't receive thee award. Vick is a dog killer. His past is the reason he should not be MVP. Blah, blah, blah, blah.....

Let me start out by saying I am one of the very few who backed Vick when he returned last year to the NFL. I still support the guy. I believe he should be MVP. He has done a lot for his football team. Same with Tom Brady. I should also voice I dislike Tom Brady a lot more than any player in the NFL. Never liked the guy and probably never will. That aside....I still believe Vick has had just as good of a season as Brady as. In my opinion a better season.

Brady has played in more games than Vick has. 3 more to be exact. Let's do a little bit of comparison as to how both of them got here. Vick wasn't even scheduled to be the starting quarterback for the Eagles come week 1. It was Kelvin Kolb. I personally believed Vick should have started or at least given the oppurtunity to win the job. That wasn't the case. Kolb was injured so Vick stepped in and had stellar performances til he gets hurt. It kinda goes back and forth til Vick is finally healthy. He keeps the job finally. That is one of the reasons Vick should be the MVP. He wasn't even supposed to the starter. Now he is an MVP candidate? Wow just wow.

As for Brady's side of things. Moss was an issue in the locker room apparently so Bill traded him to the Vikings. They sign Woodhead, trade for Branch and they are set for one great season. No doubt about that statement. To me their is in this quote "Tom Brady has done more with less" unquote. For those of you who wasn't a Pats fan til they started their success. Let me state Branch was on the Pats during Pats Super Bowl runs in the early 00s. He received a Super Bowl MVP award for his performance. The only reason he hasn't been the same player is because the health of himself and the health of his quarterback Matt Hasselback on the Seahawks. As for Woodhead the guy is averaging over 5 yards per carry. He gets very few chances to even run the ball, but he still averages that number. They have finally found their future back in Woodhead. Pats are a passing football team more so than a running. Everyone should know that by now. Welker was a success in Miami before he came to New England. Bill said he would have trouble stopping the guy so eventually picked him up for that fact. The guy avgs 100 catches a year. Very few can reach that mark. Those type of guys arn't less. Just because they arn't superstars don't mean they are garbage without Brady and Belichick. Saying that is slapping all those guys in the face for what they do for that football team. As far as rookie tight ends go they drafted those guys being top tight ends to pick in the draft.

Let's take a look at the famous stat sheet that everybody throws up in the MVP discussion. The number of games will be brought up. Already mentioned it in the post. Brady has thrown for a total of 3561 passing yards. Vick on the other hand has thrown for 2755 yards in 3 less games than Brady. Vick has also rushed for 613 yards and for 8 TDs. Brady has rushed 17 yards for 1 TD. Brady has thrown 1 less interception than Vick also with only 4. Vick has been sacked more times than Brady has which is saying something playing less games than him. Finally Brady has thrown for 31 TDs and Vick has thrown 20 TDs.

To me Vick deserves this award not only because of the stat sheet, but because all of the stuff he has had to go through to get where he is now. Whats your opinion on this?

Is Favre the face of the NFL?

I mean we get more and more news about him than anyone else reguardless of having a bad season thus far. Media just goes crazy for this guy. He is the talk of the NFL despite other teams doing very well. The Saints barely get a fraction of time on sportscenter after winning the superbowl. That is sad! Is he the face of the NFL today? We just see this guy everywhere. It annoys the crap out of people. Money mouthSmileLaughing
Favre is money for media. That is why I used the money face.

Smile cuz he is the face of the NFL.

Laugh because it makes so many people angry.
