Who should NYK target? D-12 or CP3?

All the rumors about the Knicks wanting one of the two. Which one should the Knicks target? I doubt the Knicks unless a 3rd team gets involved.....will not be getting either player. In the long haul however.....if both are on the market....who should they target.

My opinion:

The Knicks were really good offensively last season, but defensively they were one of the worst. Now how could they change that? I'd say add 3-time defensive player of the year winner Dwight Howard. The change of their defense would change dramatically from the deal. Dwight Howard is without question, the best defensive player in the NBA. Has been for the last 3 years. 3 Defensive player of the year awards 3 straight years to show for it. That one guy would change the team defensively and help them win a championship. Plus, Billups may return for a shot at a championship. Let me please add on to this fact: Look at the point guard position today. They have a ton of good point guards out there. Dwight Howard is without question the best center in the NBA. It would be much easier to get a point guard in the league than to find a center that is very thin now days.

CP3 joining would mean you would dump Billups. A vet on this team that has won an NBA championship. Chris Paul in my opinion, is the best point guard in the game. He can score, play D, and so on. Either player joining the team would be beneficial. CP3 would be good in that transition offense that Dantoni runs in New York. You can't really go wrong here, but I think the team would definately be better if Howard was there. Who knows? They may be able to get Steve Nash to sign cheap. With all the weapons the Knicks have....I think the Knicks could be unstoppable offensively. I say get Dwight if you can and go after a pg via FA. Probably Nash!!

Pre-FA Teams to look out for next season

I decided to choose 3 teams from each conference. Teams of course that weren't in the top 4 of either conference last season.

Eastern Conference:
Indiana Pacers-They have a bunch of cap room and they got a solid group coming back. I expect them to be back in the playoffs next season and a higher seed. Possibly 5th or 6th seed in the East. That is what I'm expecting.
New Jersey Nets-They have the money. Who knows who they bring in through FA? I expect them to fight for a final playoff spot.
New York Knicks of course-I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are in the top 4 teams in the East next season. They got the money to get whoever they want. Again I expect them to have one of the top 4 seeds in the East next season.

Western Conference:
Memphis Grizzlies-I expect them to shine if they do indeed resign Gasol which I expect them to do. Top 4 seeded team next season. You better believe it! Write it down. I expect a decline from LA and SA next season meaning of course they won't do as good as they did last season. Possible better playoff success, but not regular season. By postseason success I'm not meaning winning a championship of course.
Utah Jazz-With two picks in the lottery early first round. Plus hearing about them shopping Devin Harris. I think this team could compete for a playoff spot next season.
Portland Trail Blazers-Expecting that they are healthy....LOL! No I think they will finish with a better record and finish as one of the top 5 teams in the West. Andre Miller looks like he will be on the way out.

What teams do you expect to improve after last season? That people should be looking out for?

Top priority for every playoff team offseason

Spurs-sign or draft a center. Dalembert would be a good sign and I think he would take a pay cut to win a championship. Heck try Yoa if price isn't too steep.
Lakers-sign a point guard!! Aaron Brooks is available in FA and would take a paycut to play for them without a doubt.
Mavs-resign Tyson Chandler
Thunder-sign a power forward named Jeff Green. That would suck for Boston.
Nuggets-Hope Chandler and Afflalo sign qualifying offers and resign JR Smith.
Trail Blazers-sign a backup center since Oden won't be able to play til January.
Hornets-get a shooting guard and resign David West. Get a Deshaun Stevenson or a JR Smith. I think the price tag would be a bit steep to get Jason Richardson, but they should give it a try if they want.
Grizzlies-resign Marc Gasol

Chicago Bulls-sign a shooting guard obviously. Target is gonna be obviously on Richardson in which the place I think J-Rich will end up. JR Smith and Stevenson are also good targets as well.
Miami Heat-Get Lebron to work on his gmae....LOL! Resign Chalmers to me is a priorty for the Heat. He is cheap, young, and is one of the best FAs out there who is that cheap.
Boston Celtics-resign Jeff Green!
Orlando Magic-RESIGN J-Rich or try to do a sign and trade with a team to get something out of him.
Atlanta Hawks-resign Jamal Crawford for hopefully less than 10 million.
New York Knicks-sign a center! Just imagine Yoa joining New York. LOL! I'd try and save money for next offseason o.
76ers-resign Thaddeus Young!!
Pacers-sign a shooting guard!!

Better matchup for Knicks......Boston/Miami?

After replying to Knicks/Boston aftermath thread I read a post by a Knick fan stating he'd rather the Knicks play C's over Miami. I think this would be a good debate which is a reason I started this post. Of course, talking about possible 1st round playoff matchups.

Now I know many Celtic fans may be upset same with the Heat about their team, but I'm gonna state it how I see it. State your opinions about my post or just state your opinion of the matchups of which would be better for the Knicks.

I'm gonna state the advantages and disadvantages of facing both teams. Than come to a conclusion on which matchup I think the Knicks would have a better chance of winning a playoff series against.

Heat's advantages against the Knicks: The Heat have three reliable scorers who are very consistant. 3 of them could go for 20 every game. Lebron and Wade could go 40. Their advantage is simple they have 3 scoring option to worry about. The team has played longer together as well. A lot longer than the Knick teammates have. I believe that is another advantage.

Heat's disadvantages against the Knicks: Of course this is against every team so it doesn't really matter. Point guard position is not reliable option especialy on defense vs a veteran point guard such as Billups who can score 20 on some nights. Size of course is both issues for both teams. That is one of the reasons I believe the Heat would be a better matchup vs the Knicks. Both teams are still trying to get chemistry like other veteran teams. Just another reason why I think Heat would be a better matchup vs Knicks. Heat's bench production is weak. It can't compare to the Celtic's bench by any means. Another disadvantage for the Heat.

Of course if you read thus far I think the Heat is the better matchup. They have in my opinion a lot more disadvantages than Celtics do.

Celtics advantages against the Knicks: The team has great chemistry cuz the majority of the roster has been to the Finals together more than once. Knicks gave up basically half their roster via trade before the trade deadline. Team has played what? 15 games together? Celtics also have a bit of a balance. In my opinion they are better defensively more so than offensively. The Knicks offense has got to score to win the game cuz they can't make stops on defense. They are probably the worst team defensively in the NBA right now. Celtics are probably the best defensively. Playoff success/experience may play a factor as well. The Knicks havn't been to the playoffs in quite a while. To me that is also an edge for the C's due to the fact the team has a lot of veterans that have won championships. I think Billups is the only guy to win a championship on the Knicks. Celtics have great production from their bench. A lot better than both the Heat and Knicks.

To me that just makes my point. Celtics are just a bad matchup for the Knicks. I wouldn't mind seeing C's play Knicks in the playoffs cuz I love the old school rivalries. I also like watching the Knicks lose. Who worse to get beat by than their rivals. Knick fans will be po.

Celtics disadvantages against the Knicks: Offense really isn't as consistant from Pierce, KG, or Rondo. I'm speaking about scoring ability of course of these players. They have their good and bad games. Not as consistant as the Heat's trio. I believe Allen is the most consistant o. Bench production is also an issue at times. With a lot of teams it happens like that. Days they don't show up. I still believe they have a good bench o. Celtics also have injury concerns with Oneal's and what not. I believe their health along with bench play will decide how far C's go in the playoffs.

Celtics have way more advantages than the Heat do. Heat has more disadvantages than the Celtics do as well. That is why I believe Miami would be the better matchup for the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs than the Celtics. Knicks may win a game or 2 if they play the Heat. I think it would be a better series. Celtics vs Knicks may last 5 games at the max. Wouldn't be surprised if a sweep occured the teams met in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Do you agree? Disagree? Comments? Who do you believe the better matchup for the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs?

Evaluating Wolves/Nuggets future

Wolves receive:  C Eddy Curry, F Anthony Randolph, $3 million
Wolves gave up:  F Corey Brewer

Wolves got a good deal. Heard Curry will be bought out. Obviously the deal with Melo couldn't happen if not for Curry getting out of New York with his expiring contract. Again the buyout of Curry's contract is a rumor. Figure they will o. So basically the Knicks gave up Randolph and 3 million for Brewer. Not that bad of a trade, but I think Wolves gained from this deal due to the fact Randolph is good and still has a rookie contract that is affordable. Get 3 million also. Very good deal for Wolves. It benefits in my opinion the Knicks also since they are receiving Melo.

Nuggets receive: G Raymond Felton, F Danilo Gallinari, F Wilson Chandler, C Timofey Mozgov, first-round pick in 2014, second-round picks in 2012 and 2013, $3 million.
Nuggets give up: F Carmelo Anthony, G Chauncey Billups, C Shelden Williams, F Renaldo Balkman, G Anthony Carter.

Obviously trading star players such as Anthony and Billups it looks as if they are rebuilding. They received some nice young talent to build around. They got something the Cavs and Toronto didn't get. That is some good prospects along with a good deal in my opinion. I praise Melo for stating to the Nuggets way beforehand that he wants out. Way better than letting them have nothing. Didn't expect the team to do well in the playoffs regardless this year. I don't expect or predicted that they would make the playoffs this season cuz of the Melo situation that I figured would play out. It did and I don't expect them to make the playoffs for a few years. Probably more than that LOL! In any case the deal is done thank goodness. It was very annoying with the drama all year. I wish both teams good luck going forward. They certainly need it. I wish their fanbases to stick in there.

Evaluating Knick trades with Wolves/Denver

I decided to do this last night, but it was late so I decided to do it tomorrow which is today. Anyways here is my evaluation on both of the Knick trades. Definately shook things up and I must say their future is bright going forward.

Knicks received: F Carmelo Anthony, G Chauncey Billups, C Shelden Williams, F Renaldo Balkman, F Corey Brewer, G Anthony Carter.

Knicks gave up: G Raymond Felton, F Danilo Gallinari, F Wilson Chandler, G Timofey Mozgov, first-round pick in 2014, second-round picks in 2012 and 2013, $3 million each to Nuggets and Timberwolves along with Eddy Currey and Randolph to the Wolves.

Obviously the Knicks gave up starters along with some bench players to get what they wanted. What they wanted was of course Carmelo Anthony. All the talk has been about Melo to New York. That destination he wanted to go and he is going with teammates along with new players. Gets to team with one of his friends in Amare. This is huge not only for the Knicks, but the Eastern Conference. Their fan base is quite strange. It is either that or some of their fans are. Some are just plain upset with the deal feeling they gave up too much for Melo? Did they? In some ways I guess you can say that. Keep hearing about the starters they gave up. Did they not get starters in return? Billups, Brewer, Melo need I go on. Yes you gave up 4 starters that had great talent. Denver and Minnesota did the same thing. Role players also I hear Eddy Curry and so on. Eddy Curry and his bad contract has been way overdue. They been trying to get rid of him for several seasons. I know some fans that were upset at the fact Curry optioned to return rather than be a free agent. Anyways the Knicks have a far better future now with Melo than without him. I figure if Knicks wouldn't have put up an offer like they did than Anthony would be heading to New Jersey. He won't leave that type of money on the table.

Future for the Knicks is bright like I stated. They have two superstars now. Do I believe they can win a playoff series this season? It is certainly possible, but I wouldn't bet on it. Will they next season? You can bank on that. Would they have won a playoff series without these trades? I doubt it more so. I think this is the best bet for their franchise to win a championship. A guy like Melo playing for your franchise doesn't happen every day nor every year for that matter. This was their oppurtunity and they took it. I woulda did the same thing. You get experienced vets in Billups and Melo which it will bring that to a young team like the Knicks. They were young anyway. I believe Billups has some game left in him. Brewer certainly does. The team is certainly one of the top tier in the East. I give congrats to the owner, organization, and so on for making this trade happen. Fanbase has suffered for a long time and now they got a playoff team that will soon become a championship contender. They made big steps closer to that with them deals they made.

Should Knicks wait or trade for him now?

The question is always being that the Knicks don't want to give up role players for Melo. Why trade for him if you can get him in FA? Why give up the talent if you don't have to. I do understand where the Knicks are coming from, but come on. Role players are replaceable. You can go out in FA and get them or trade for them. It does amaze me that the Knicks are not willing to take the risk. No guaranttee that Melo won't decide to sign that three year deal before the new CBA. He may be willing to give up x amount of dollars for the organization, but they won't give up role players for Melo? A guy like Melo is hard to find. He is a superstar and one of the best offensive players in the NBA. Would he instantly make an impact if he joined the Knicks? To me without a doubt he would which is why I still can't understand why they arn't willing to give up 2 or 3 role players for Melo. Knicks to me currently are just a playoff contender....not a championship contender. They get Melo they would be in a lot of folks opinions as a championship contender. How can you disagree with that? If I had an organization like the Knicks, I would trade for him without question. What would you rather have.....a championship now or later? Yea you could wait and have all these role players with Melo, but that isn't a promise. He still could sign a deal just for the fact he is leaving a lot of money on the table if he doesn't. Melo has been holding out of that contract all season for the Knicks. Can they do not do him a favor and trade for him? Get his paycheck he wants so he will be happy, your organization will be happy, Knick fans will be happy, and NBA fans in general will be happy cuz all the talk is over with. LOL! Everyone would benefit from this. Why take a risk on losing out on Melo for role players that are replaceable?

I just wanted to give my opinion on the Melo situation. Any comments on my opinion? What is your opinion on what Knicks should do?
